Heath Police warn of a possible scam taking place in the area.

Authorities said a subject, who identified himself as a bank investigator or law enforcement officer, contacted a customer who had an account with a local bank. The suspect told the customer he was investigating a possible fraud and asked the customer to withdraw money from their account and take the money to a nearby location to turn it over.

The Heath Police Department is searching for a woman who fled a car accident following a police chase.

Around 2:30 Friday afternoon Heath police officers responded to a report of a suspicious man and woman near the Hobby Lobby and Target. Officers located the two in a Purple PT Cruiser near the Indian Mound Mall. The two led police on a chase that lasted 7.9 miles and ended when the car lost control near Flint Ridge Road. Heath Police ask residents to watch out for a phone scam.

Authorities said that on Wednesday November 30 a resident reported sending $98 to secure a loan from USA Personal Loans after being solicited over the phone.

The resident sent the money through Western Union to Delhi, India. The resident was then told the loan would be sent after a $175 tax was sent.

The resident realized then it was a scam and contacted police.

Heath Police continue to look for a motorist involved in a Sunday night accident with a bike.

Officials said the accident at Custer and Putnam Roads took place at 8:48pm Sunday night.

According to a police report the mother of a 12-year-old called police stating her child was struck by a black pick-up truck while biking.

The child was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital. The child told police the driver of the truck did stop to check if they were okay then left the area....

Heath Police investigate a late night motorcycle accident.

Sgt. Hunt said that around 11pm Thursday their department along with the Heath Fire Department were called to an injury accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of State Route 79 and Hopewell Drive.

The driver of the cycle was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital and was flown from there to Grant Medical Center.

The accident remains under investigation.
