Injuries are never timely, but days before the season kicks off is a whole different animal. The Blue Devils are suffering a huge blow to the strength of their defensive attack with Division I prospect and defensive end, Anthony Smith, suffering a sprained ankle. Smith could be out for just three to five weeks but with surgery likely necessary,  the defensive end could miss the entire season. [click the video link to see more]

Before Justin Buttermore took over at Tri-Valley, the Scotties had 15 winning seasons in 54 years. Since Buttermore's arrival, the Dawgs have had four winning seasons and three playoff appearances. If Charles Dickens were still alive and writing, he would gain some inspiration for his next novel in Crooksville, "A Tale of Two Seasons." After starting off 4-0 in 2009, the Ceramics went 0-6 to end the season. In 1975, at the ripe old age of 23, Maysville head coach Whit Parks became a head coach for the first time at Division VI Danville High School. To commemorate the 35th Anniversary of his first venture into head coaching, WHIZ Sports' Jed DeMuesy quizzed Coach Parks on a time so long ago: 1975.
