Our final MVL team preview is the team that took the whole thing a year ago. For Sheridan, winning the league is nothing new. In fact, normally nothing is new in Thornville. Coach Paul Culver is beginning his fourth decade as the leader of the Generals, but on the surface there are some changes for for Sheridan, including the surface. Dig deeper, and you'll find the same old red rage. JT Raymond has more.

It was a game that some thought would be a blowout, but it played out more like an instant classic.  Tri-Valley and Upper Arlington's week one clash went all the way down to the wire, before the Golden Bears nabbed up a 24-17 victory.

This season's matchup promises to be just as exciting.  And to help us get ready, Scottie coach Justin Buttermore sat down with WHIZ to go over last year's film in our first edition of the Football Film Session.

In recent years in New Concord, it's been three years off and three years on for the Muskies when it comes to playoff appearances. From 2005-2007, John Kelley's group were battling in the post season. The past three years, they have fallen short. If the trend holds, this year should mean a return to the playoffs, but the Muskies aren't relying solely on the past to dictate their future. JT Raymond files this report.

There may be no area team ready to put last season behind them more than the New Lexington Panthers. A 2-8 record is nothing any team wants to duplicate, but on The Rock, 2-8 is beyond unacceptable, and almost unheard of. The season that was a year ago is in the rear view mirror, as Coach Bill Nutt and his crew attempt to focus on what made the Pathers go during the 2008 state semifinal run. Dan Wolfgang has more on the redemption at Rockwell this season.

Early this morning at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds, it was hard to miss the Blue Devil Pride. The annual tradition of 30 Hills played out for the 40th time in the history of Zanesville's football program. The members of the football team have no doubt worked harder over the summer in preparation for the upcoming football season, but they never have more meaningful beads of sweat than they do the Friday before Two-A-Days.

Muskingum Valley 35, Licking County 7

(ZANESVILLE) -- Muskingum Valley scored early and often in the 30th edition of the Muskingum Valley-Licking County All-Star Game Friday night at Sulsberger Stadium.

Zanesville's Talen Hutchison scored from five yards out early in the first quarter.  A C.J. Myers (Sheridan) strike to Casey Williams (Tri-Valley) set up the score.

30 seconds later, Myers helped his own cause, recovering a fumble by...

(ZANESVILLE) -- Practice is underway for the 30th annual Muskingum Valley-Licking County All-Star Game.  Previous head men have admitted the experience of coaching the showdown for the first time is tough.  Getting over 30 players from 11 different teams on the same page is no easy task.  We stopped by practice on Monday to see how things were going.

One day after Zanesville's Braily Blair (LB) and Anthony Smith (DE) signed to play college football at Ohio Dominican, Tri-Valley's Kodie Michael and Casey Williams joined the party. Williams (WR) signed the dotted line Thursday afternoon to make his commitment official with the D-II school. The sure-handed receiver is coming off an outstanding senior season where he was named to the D-II, All-Ohio third team. Down in the trenches, Kodie Michael (DL, OL) also...
