During a meeting with representatives from CORSA, Muskingum County's insurer, the commissioner's reviewed the new plan for the county that will go into effect on the first of next month. Overall, the county will see a reduction of about $8,5000.

Employees of Starlight Programs should be seeing big changes by the end of the year.

Superintendent John Hill met with the Muskingum County Commissioners on Thursday to discuss insurance options.  Hill said employees are currently covered by insurance offered through the county, but Starlight Programs is searching for its own insurance provider.

When it comes to statistics, the state of Ohio is losing its battle with planting summer crops.

Due to the extremely wet conditions, Ohio is seeing fewer crops in the ground. Muskingum County OSU Extension Educator Mark Mechling says typically at this point, we should see 80 percent of the corn crop planted, but now we only see 11 percent. And as far as the soy bean crop, normally over half would be in the ground. As of now, we are only seeing around 5 percent.

Muskingum County Commissioners approved the implementation of a three-tier health insurance plan for county employees.

Commissioners John Bates and Brian Hill met Thursday and approved the new insurance policy. Commissioner Jerry Lavy was not present, but accepted the changes. Commissioners say the plan gives employees more options.

Muskingum County township employees are one step closer to joining their own healthcare plan.

Today the commissioners hosted a presentation proposing possible healthcare policies and benefits for township trustees, employees and mayors, which are not currently on the county's plan.
