Motorists may experience slow downs when traveling on Interstate 70 Thursday.

Beginning at 7am there will be temporary one lane closures both east and west on the interstate near the State Route 83 exit in Muskingum County.

All work should be complete by 4pm Thursday. During this time needed asphalt repair work will take place.

An accident in Licking County forced lane restrictions on Interstate 70 east.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says the lanes are now open.

The area affected was near Kirkersville east of State Route 158.

The Ohio Department of Transportation announces that Interstate 70 east and westbound lanes are down to one lane Tuesday morning.

An accident approximately 3 miles east of Old Washington is the reason for the restrictions. It's unknown at this time how long traffic will be restricted.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says a deer is to blame for an accident on Interstate 70.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. near mile marker 148. Trooper Adam McKenzie says a Jeep Liberty was traveling in the right, eastbound lane when the driver, Yang-Jing-Yi Lu of Marietta, struck a deer. All lanes on Interstate 70 Eastbound are now re-opened following a two-vehicle accident involving a semi.

According to ODOT, it happened on I-70 Eastbound a mile West of State Route 13 just before 3 p.m. Traffic was restricted to one lane for about 15 minutes to clear the wreck.

Officials report no injuries as a result of the crash.

If you build it, they will come, and so goes the Interstate which has brought many businesses and economic growth to Ohio.

Avon and the Dollar General are just a couple examples, but President of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce, Tom Poorman says much of the economic development can be attributed to Interstate 70 cutting through Muskingum County and the City of Zanesville and the 12,000 trucks that travel the roadway daily.

Another accident on Interstate 70 Westbound slowed traffic East of Friday morning's semi collision.

National Trails Fire Department was on the scene along with the State Highway Patrol. The fire department says it happened around 1 p.m. between the Brownsville and State Route 13 exits. It was bad day to travel on Interstate 70 through Licking County. An accident near Buckeye Lake shut down both sides for the majority of the Friday.

It happened just before 6 a.m. on I-70 Eastbound, West of State Route 79. It involved a semi-tractor trailer and a truck painting lines on the roadway.

A semi accident causes problems for those traveling on Interstate 70 Wednesday morning.

Around 4:10am New Concord and Perry Township Fire Departments were called to a semi on its side in the westbound lanes of the Interstate between Norwich and Sonora Road exit.

The tanker was carrying liquid asphalt and leaking through the vent hole in the top of the trailer. The driver reportedly had a laceration to the head and was out of the vehicle.

Routine maintenance work on Interstate 70 will close the Westbound passing lane Thursday.

ODOT spokeswoman, Kate Stickle says the lane will be closed within the corporate limits of the City of Zanesville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stickle says the driving lane will remain open, but drivers are advised to take alternate routes. Stickle says ODOT plans to work on the Eastbound passing lane on Friday, which will limit the roadway to one lane.
