It was bad day to travel on Interstate 70 through Licking County. An accident near Buckeye Lake shut down both sides for the majority of the Friday.

It happened just before 6 a.m. on I-70 Eastbound, West of State Route 79. It involved a semi-tractor trailer and a truck painting lines on the roadway.

A semi accident causes problems for those traveling on Interstate 70 Wednesday morning.

Around 4:10am New Concord and Perry Township Fire Departments were called to a semi on its side in the westbound lanes of the Interstate between Norwich and Sonora Road exit.

The tanker was carrying liquid asphalt and leaking through the vent hole in the top of the trailer. The driver reportedly had a laceration to the head and was out of the vehicle.

Routine maintenance work on Interstate 70 will close the Westbound passing lane Thursday.

ODOT spokeswoman, Kate Stickle says the lane will be closed within the corporate limits of the City of Zanesville from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stickle says the driving lane will remain open, but drivers are advised to take alternate routes. Stickle says ODOT plans to work on the Eastbound passing lane on Friday, which will limit the roadway to one lane.

Traffic was shut down for more than a half hour on Interstate 70 Eastbound following a two-car accident.

It happened around 5 p.m. just before the Norwich exit in a one-lane construction zone. Trooper Trenas Weaver of the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says that 23-year-old Timoteo Perez III of Cambridge, OH was driving East on Interstate 70 in a Chevy Aveo. It seems as though traffic has stalled quite a bit on Interstate 70 over the past few weeks, all due to accidents on the major highway.

But the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says it's dealing with the same number of accidents on the roadway this year as it did this time last year. There have been 38 crashes so far, including a fatal crash that took the lives of three adults and two children back in June.

Traffic is backed up on Interstate 70 East near the Norwich Exit following a two vehicle injury accident.
 

It happened around 5 p.m.
 

Intitial reports indicate at least one person has been taken to the hospital.
 

The State Highway Patrol along with the Perry Township Fire Department are currently on the scene.

A car is totaled on Interstate 70 after an accident, involving one vehicle.

It happened at mile marker 161, near the Airport Road exit, around 8:30 p.m.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says the driver, Supraja Muppala was traveling westbound.

"The vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected, traveled off the right side of the roadway, and struck a guardrail, " says Trooper Trenas Weaver.

The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol has released the name of the man killed in an accident Wednesday on Interstate 70 near the State Route 79 exit.

The victim was 26-year-old Carlos F. Salazar of Philadelphia.

Three people were taken to the hospital after a rollover accident on Interstate 70 Friday.

According to Trooper Todd Henry with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, around 3:30 a Red Ford Ranger pick-up truck driven by 37-year-old Jennifer Burk of Chandlersville was traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 just past the Adamsville exit when it failed to notice traffic slowed for construction.

Burk swerved to avoid the traffic, went into the median, and overturned....

A car fire shut down both lanes of Interstate 70 westbound near the Norwich exit Tuesday.

According to Trooper McKenzie with the Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol, shortly before 5:30 p.m., a 2006 Scion T-C caught fire and quickly became engulfed with flames. The driver 20-year-old Caelyn Reyher and passenger 23-year-old Travis Clark, were both taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital for smoke inhalation and minor breathing difficulties.
