The state says Ohio’s unemployment rate dropped in April to the lowest level in more than six years.  The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services said Friday the seasonally adjusted rate in April was 5.7 percent, which was down from 6.1 percent in March. Ohio’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7 percent for May. State officials released the new numbers Friday morning. The rate was the same as April, after falling from 7.1 percent the two previous months. The Ohio rate has consistently remained below the national level. The U.S. unemployment rate for May was 7.6 percent. The state’s leaders have said Ohio’s economy and its job market are getting stronger, though the process is slow.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services issued the latest jobless rates for our area and the numbers are improving. In August all counties in our area saw a decrease in unemployment. Here are the numbers: In Noble County the jobless rate for August is 13.3%, down from 14.7 %. In Morgan County it’s 13.3% down from 14%. Here in Muskingum County the rate went from 14% to 13%. Perry County’s jobless rate went from 12.8% to 11.9% and in Licking County the unemployment rate went...

The latest jobless numbers have been released and the news in good in all area counties. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services say all saw a decrease in unemployment. Here in Muskingum County…April joblessness came in at 13.8 percent…down from 15.2 percent in March. The unemployment numbers were also down in the following counties: Noble-15.5/17.2, Morgan-15.1/17.2, Perry-14.0/15.4, Guernsey-12.8/14.5, Coshocton-13.2/14.4 and Licking-10.2/11.0. The State released September's unemployment figures Tuesday and all the counties in our region are seeing a drop in numbers.

Morgan County is reporting a jobless rate of 14.6% for the month of September down from August's rate of 15.7 %.

Noble County has an unemployment rate of 14 %, Perry County has a jobless rate of 12.8 %, Coshocton County at 12.3 %, Muskingum County's jobless rate is 11.9 % for the month of September down from 12.3 % in August.

After job seekers got all dolled up, they were able to sit through a series of classes, learning to sell themselves in interviews and on paper.

Morgan county leads our region with the highest jobless rate for August at 15.7 %, Noble County's unemployment figure dropped a percentage point from July to15 %.

Perry County's jobless rate checks in at 13.8 %, next is Coshocton County at 13.7 %, Muskingum County's jobless rate for the month of August dropped slightly to 12.3 %, Guernsey County has a jobless rate of 11.8...
