If you're planning a Labor Day getaway you'll be in good company.

Triple A predicts that 34.7 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over the holiday weekend, most of them on the roads. That would be 1.3 percent more weekend travelers than last year.

State Patrol Troopers will share the roadway with those traveling as you can expect to see an increase in patrols. Even minor violations can lead to major problems.

More Americans are expected to be traveling during the Labor Day weekend.

The AAA Auto Club said over 33 million Americans, including around 1.3 million Ohioans are expected to hit the road during the holiday.

AAA Spokeswoman Kimberly Schwind said the increase can be attributed to improvements in consumer confidence over the last few years, and Americans' unwavering desire to travel.

It was a busy Labor Day weekend for local law enforcement.

Sergeant Clark Felix from the Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol said there weren't many accidents, but the number of stops and arrests were high.

"As far as the traffic goes, not many crashes, but we did make over 560 arrests, over 100 safety belt citations and over 900 traffic stops," said Felix.
