In a press release the sheriff's office said that around 11a.m. Wednesday, Gary Jones brought a device that resembled a WWII era hand grenade to the sheriff's office for disposal.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting death of a teen that occured in Newark late Saturday night.
According to the sheriff's office, Cody Williams, 23 of Hebron told them he was handling a weapon when he accidentally shot 19-year-old James Ballman at around 9 p.m.

Authorities in Licking County are on the look out for an armed robbery suspect.
It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the BP Duke Gas Station on Jacksontown Road in Thornville.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office says a Pataskala man has been arrested on child pornography charges.
Authorities say 43-year-old Steven Miller is in custody after deputies searched his home on National Road and discovered multiple photos of children engaged in sexual acts.
He is being held in the Licking County Justice Center on a charge of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material.

An area high school student was arrested Monday after authorities say she admitted to making a hit list.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office said they received at least four calls Tuesday night in regards to sightings of exotic animals. Though none on the sightings could be confirmed by law enforcement.
