The State says total liquor sales in Ohio climbed to a record 849 million dollars in 2012, up 7 percent from the previous year.  The Ohio Division of Liquor Control says that wholesale sales of spirits to restaurants, bars and clubs increased by more than 5 percent to 257.8 million dollars.  The State noted there was a smaller increase of 4.2 percent in the number of gallons of spirits sold compared with 2011.  The division sold 11.9 million gallons at its hundreds of contract...

New numbers on liquor sales could be a good sign for the economy.

The Ohio Division of Liquor Control said statewide sales grew by about 5% last year and totaled a record $794-million.  The number of gallons of spirits sold increased by about 4% in Ohio.  Chad Lynn of the Winerak Market in Zanesville said his store saw a 6% boost in sales last year.

Fourth of July liquor sales may have been the highest in years for one local store.

Winerack owner in Zanesville, Mike Alfman, said he hasn't had a chance to look at the numbers yet, but predicts sales will be the highest he has seen in the past ten to fifteen years. The nice weather could be one factor but Alfman contributes the spike to the holiday falling on a Monday.
