Many members of the community gather together to honor the memory of Martin Luther King Junior and to move his legacy forward.

Monday morning the 19th Annual Martin Luther King Junior Scholarship Fund Prayer Breakfast took place. 32 high school students were presented with $500 scholarships to help further their education. Education is something King strongly believed in.

The national holiday marking the birth date of Martin Luther King JR. recognizes the exceptional life King led and the progress he created during the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. day is less than a week away and the MLK Scholarship Fund is very busy with various event in Zanesville over the coming days.

This Friday is the first of these events, the 21st Annual Ethnic Food Fair, held at Zane State College at 11 AM. For ten dollars, taste goers will experience a variety of cuisines.

Monday January 17, 28 students from seven high schools will be honored for their hard work and achievement.

At this year's 17th Annual Martin Luther King Junior Scholarship Fund Prayer Breakfast those students will receive $500 to go towards higher education. An organizer of the event said these students represent the legacy of Dr. King.
