After a year of planning, the 28th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction has finally come to an end.

Executive Director of the Carr Center, Kim Hosler says that they didn't quite reach last year's numbers, but she is still just as proud of the event. 365 cakes and incentives were auctioned off to lucky bidders on Friday evening.

So....what would you do if you found $1,300 on the ground?

A local boy was faced with that exact question this past Monday, when he and his family entered the Community Bank on Maysville Pike.

"There was a lady that came over to one of the islands that they make the checks out to, and she had money for her rent, her house and her car payment, and she dropped it," said Tommy Winland, a student at Philo Junior High.

Since 2006, the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties has been providing free tax preparation services for residents. Executive director Meg Deedrick, said the free service was started to increase income for families and households in the three county region the United Way serves.

According to the Licking County Sheriff's Office 24-year-old Brandon Clemmons was booked into the Licking County Justice Center for Misdemeanor and Felony Charges.

At approximately 12:50 a.m. Newark Police responded to a domestic disturbance call  on 224 Deo Drive. When authorities attempted to detain the subject he fled the scene.

During the winter, most people notice a pinch in their pockets when it comes to paying utility bills.

But there are a few things you can do to save money and keep warm.

"In the home you can save a lot of money<" said Frank Berlo of the Home Depot. "If your utility bills are $300, we can save up to 30% by just doing some energy saving tips. That's $100 a month or $1,200 a year, which is an enormous amount of money, especially in these times."
