A piece of American history is coming through Southeastern Ohio Memorial Day weekend.

The Vietnam Memorial Wall will start in Zanesville at the VFW on Moxahala Avenue, and then will be accompanied by a police escort and more than 1,500 motorcyclists into McConnelsville where the wall will be displayed.

John Christy of the Malta VFW said he would like to see the public line up on State Route 60 as the wall travels to Morgan County in support of their fallen heroes.

In Morgan County, elected to McConnelsville Council were Mark Dille and Mary Gessel.

In the race for Malta Mayor, voters have chosen Gregory Hill by 116 votes over opponents Terry McGrath and Alice Kay Mitchell.

And in the Village of Chesterhill, voters have elected Richard Wetzel Senior as their Mayor over Brandy Mayle.

Also in the race for Chesterhill Council, Chasity Mayle and Tony Mayle-Tabler.

If you were in McConellsville early Saturday might have noticed something a bit out of the ordinary in front of the Morgan County Courthouse.

It was the 24th Annual Civil War Re-enactment. Each year the Morgan County Re-enactors Association line up as Union and Confederate soldiers. Re-enactor, Ernie Parnell has been apart of the Civil War display since he was eight and said, it's a hobby unlike any other.

Investigators continue to look for information into Sunday's barn fire in Morgan County that killed eight horses.

Shane Cartmill with the State Fire Marshal's Office says a Blue Ribbon Arson reward of up to$5,000 is now being offered to anyone with information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have seen something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire to come forward.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has ruled a barn fire in Morgan County that killed eight horses as arson.

"I just can't believe somebody would do something like this and do this to poor animals," said Owner Brent Whitehouse.

The Washington Morgan Major Crime Task Force began executing search warrants on a major drug trafficking operation at five o'clock this morning.

Thus far, several arrests have been made and large quantities of illegal drugs have been recovered.

Authorities have also seized over 700,000 dollars in cash.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Bacterial meningitis is suspected in the death of a Morgan County pre-schooler and has been confirmed in another pre-schooler who is now hospitalized in Columbus.

According to the Morgan County Herald, the pre-schooler passed away Wednesday. The Herald says the Morgan County Health Department has contacted all the people who may have come into contact with the two children and all school buses and Morgan Transit vehicles have been sanitized.

One person is dead following a fatal one-vehicle car accident in Morgan County.

According to the Marietta post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, a driver was traveling on State Route 376 around 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree one mile South of mile marker five.

The Morgan County Board of Election is suing the county commissioners over money problems. The issue is the election board won’t be able to pay for the November 2nd election and has sued Commissioners for more money. Ohio Secretary of State Spokesman Patrick Gallaway says now his office is involved because the issue must be resolved quickly.
