Thursday Miss Muskingum Valley held a wine tasting to benefit local animals.

Heidi Negron hosted the event at the Zanesville Country Club, with all proceeds going to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter.

Negron's platform in the pageant was animal rescue.

A little boy wanted something unusual for his birthday.

Instead of presents, nine-year-old Kyle Wilson wanted his friends to bring things to donate to the animal shelter.

Local students are decorating bulb after bulb this holiday season to help support their four legged friends.

Grover Cleveland Middle School art student David Dillender says he loves his dog Smokey so he's glad to help out.

Pets and their owners were all dolled up Sunday for their holiday photos.

This is the 16th year the Pictures Plus Studios in Dresden has taken holiday pet photos.  Half their proceeds are donated to the Muskingum County Animal Shelter. Last year raised around $800 for the animal shelter.
