The Muskingum County Business Incubator celebrated its 8th annual business plan competition Wednesday to help beginner businesses with potential to grow.

In order to qualify for the competition the companies had to produce a business plan following nine criteria and then five finalists were selected. Wednesday afternoon, the five contestants made a 10 to 15 minute presentation to explain their business to a panel of five judges.

A group of Russian delegates is visiting the Muskingum County Business Incubator.

They are traveling with representatives from the Great Lakes Rural Community Assistance Program.  Director Deb Martin said the purpose of the trip is to explore the similarities between rural American and rural Russian communities.

Area business leaders are coming together to learn more about clean energy.

Muskingum County Commissioners received an update Thursday afternoon on the progress of the Business Incubator Project.

The project include a number of grants for renovations. County Development Director Sheila Samson said the county is awaiting a site visit from the Ohio Department of Energy in order to receive an energy efficiency grant.

Bids were placed for phase three of the new Muskingum County Business Incubator Monday afternoon.

The Muskingum County Commissioners originally had to send the bids back a few weeks ago because they were too high. Bids for phase three which deal with electrical, plumbing, and general contracting came back Monday with more favorable numbers.
