Paint, oil and other hazardous material can be hard to get rid of safely and legally. Southeastern Ohio Joint Solid Waste Management District, City of Zanesville and the County Commissioners sponsored the collection day to help with the disposal of the things we can't just throw away.

The collection day took place at the Ohio University-Zane State campus today from 10:00 a.m.. until 2:00 p.m.. The event is bi-annual and cars lined up for the chance to dispose of their waste properly....

When we think of hazardous waste, things like oil, batteries and rat poison may not immediately pop into our minds...But they can still cause problems if not properly disposed.

The Superintendent of Muskingum County Starlight Programs met with County Commissioners Thursday.

The Muskingum County Commissioners accepted a bid Thursday afternoon for the Blue Rock water tank project.

The only bid for the tank was submitted by Mid-Atlantic Storage Systems of Washington Court House. Muskingum County Projects Director Don Madden said the project would extend a water line from the county to Blue Rock State Park.

Muskingum County Auditor Debra Nye met with the county commissioners Monday afternoon.

Wednesday evening the County Commissioners invited the public to an informational forum to educate them about the possibility of raising license plate fees.

According to Muskingum County Engineer, Doug Davis' presentation Wednesday evening, there are 415 bridges in the county. 36% of these bridges are considered functionally obsolete, meaning they are aged and do not meet today's standards and 18% are structurally deficient, meaning the bridge is weakening and prone to flooding.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met with their legal council Monday morning to discuss two ways to save tax payers money.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met Monday morning with the County Auditor to discuss the new prices for dog tags.

Once the state legislation passed House Bill 59, it increased the length of time the tags are valid for. Pet owners have three time frame options of one year, three years or a permanent tag.

Prior to the investment meeting Monday, the County Commissioners accepted requests from area banks,who want to protect the county's money for the next three years.
