The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency took part in the statewide test Wednesday of the tornado alert system.  The news is good -- all the sirens performed as expected locally.  Starting next week the E-M-A will be testing all 42 sirens in the county every Wednesday at noon through October.

The huge storm known as Hurricane Sandy is speeding up and will make landfall on the east coast Monday night.

The storm brings with it powerful, damaging winds, potentially flooding rains, and will even drop snow on some areas. The big storms that ripped through our area are still causing problems.

Residents of Muskingum County are feeling the effects from the severe storm Friday night.

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck says the damage from the storm is county wide.

"The main damage is from trees down into power lines and the power outage we have throughout the county," said Keck.

When there is an emergency -- like today's fatal accident -- first responders immediately head to the scene. There's one group that ensures those responders have everything they need to handle the incident.

State Route 146 in Muskingum County was shut down for hours Friday afternoon following a tanker truck rollover.

The crash occurred around 4:30 near Clay Littick Drive. According to Jeff Jadwin with the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency, the tanker went off the roadway landing in a creek rupturing the fuel tanks and oil panel in the truck.

Jadwin says the load the truck was carrying was not hazardous.

The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency will be doing some testing Wednesday of it's tornado sirens and radio frequencies.

The agency said residents should not be alarmed by the sirens. The test is being performed as part of a series of tests for the new 911 dispatch center.

In the wake of last Thursday's tornadoes, areas surrounding Perry County pulled together equipment to provide them with the help they needed. Muskingum County offered many of the necessary resources.
