School may be out, but that doesn't mean the learning stops.
The Muskingum County Library System kicked off its summer reading program this week. Assistant Director Blair Tom said more than 1,000 children are already registered.
Parents can help their kids set a goal of how many books they would like to read this summer. Children who participate in the program will receive incentives like backpacks and coupons from area businesses.
Sometimes students are reluctant to ask for help, but an online tool is making it easier for kids to get their work done.

You can now access the library through a phone app. All you have to do is go the App Store on your phone, search for LS2 and then download. Once it downloads it's just a matter of choosing the Muskingum County Library on the menu. You'll then be able to take books on and off hold, see if you have fines and if the library has the book you're searching for.
Tough economic times are hurting Ohio's libraries, but budget cuts aren't the only issue they're facing.

Some renovations are coming to the South Branch Library in South Zanesville.
The Muskingum County Library System Board of Trustees met Tuesday evening approving a bid from Hoon incorporated out of Athens to make around 170,000 dollars in renovations.
