The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is encouraging families to join them in taking proactive steps in protecting their children.

A Zanesville man will spend a year in prison after a drug bust by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.

Wednesday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court 27-year-old James Allen Wade pled not-guilty to a fourth-degree-felony charge of trafficking in crack cocaine. Judge Kelly Cottrill immediately sentenced him to one year in prison.

A man is sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday for charges stemming from a Zanesville drug bust.

26-year-old Darrin Wade pled guilty in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court to a third-degree-felony charge of trafficking in crack cocaine, a third-degree felony charge of possession of crack cocaine and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Judge Kelly Cottrill sentenced Wade to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

The Frazeysburg Fire Department says someone is falsely soliciting donations in its name.

Fire Chief David Smith says he filed a report with the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office Monday night after several residents told him they were called and asked for donations to help the fire department.

Smith says if anyone tries to solicit money from you for the fire department call the Sheriff's Office.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is receiving funding to keep track of sex offenders.

Ohio Attorney General, Richard Cordray's office received a $155,546 federal grant for two programs. The first program sends email and phone alerts to sex offenders and officers concerning when and where sex offenders need to report.

A new technology is helping law enforcement nab criminals.

Through Homeland Security funding, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office recently installed a license plate reader, or LPR which is mounted on the back of cruisers.

After uprooting more than 6,000 marijuana plants, the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office feels they are putting a dent in Ohio's drug problem.

Thousands of marijuana plants were discovered Thursday growing in Muskingum County.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office says an adult male is in custody after a stabbing in Zanesville last night.

Crews were dispatched to 1175 Ellis Dam Road around 8 p.m. for a dispute between neighbors. Deputy Tim Matheney says when they arrived at the scene, they found a 15-year-old juvenile who had been stabbed and had a one-inch incision. Captain Jeff LeCocq says the teen was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is investigating a stabbing that took place in Zanesville.

It happened around 8 p.m. at 1120 Ellis Dam Road.

Deputy Tim Matheney says his office received an initial call about a dispute between neighbors. He says when they arrived at the scene, they found that a male juvenile had been stabbed and had a one-inch incision. That male was alert at the scene and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital.
