The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is keeping a close eye on the Muskingum River.

Ice broke loose on the Muskingum River Friday afternoon,  tearing out docks, gazebos, trees, and other debris. EMA Director, Bo Keck, said his office has been monitoring the river ever since it froze across earlier this winter. He called what happened Friday  "devastating."

It is day two of a search of the Muskingum river for a Coshocton man who has been missing since the boat he was riding in capsized.

In only two weeks time, southeastern Ohio has seen more than 7 inches of rain and has caused significant flooding of local rivers and streams. Harsh flood conditions are extremely dangerous and are to blame for the flipping of a boat into the Muskingum River in Coshocton with three individuals on board. 53 year old Mark Walters is still missing.

 Crews will be back at work Friday morning searching for a man still missing in the Muskingum River. 

Authorities had to call off the search for the 53-year-old man Thursday night as they reported it was too dangerous to be near the water after dark. The river is still high from recent rains and had a swift current.

The Lorena Sternwheeler went through a routine inspection by the Coast Guard in March and it turns out the repairs weren't as expensive as they originally thought.

"We are very excited the Lorena Sternwheeler is back in the water and it has already set sail," said Kelly Ashby, V.P. of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce.

The case of the death and disappearance of half-brothers Ayden Cecil and Anthony Tullius will go in front of a Grand Jury.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the case was sent to Prosecutor Mike Haddox for review nearly 2 weeks ago. He said Haddox has assembled a list of witnesses and will present the case next Wednesday.

Search crews continue their search efforts in the Muskingum River for the third day after a man who had been tubing with a group of friends went missing Saturday afternoon.

Crews are currently searching the Muskingum River for a 41-year-old man who was believed to have been tubing with a group of just South of Dresden, according to the Dresden Fire Department and Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the man had become separated from the group and is believed to have drowned. Search efforts are underway for the man until dark and will resume in the morning if he has not been found.

The hot weather has many looking for ways to cool down.

While the Muskingum River may look tempting Zanesville Firefighters are warning residents to stay away.

"You have unknowns like the currents, deep holes, debris whether man made or natural which are logs submerged you don't see that can hit you and tangle you and take you down," said Zanesville Firefighter Pat Lafferty.
