One local water source is seeing some improvements.

The Muskingum River's quality of water has dramatically improved, thanks to testing by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Agency. More fish are also returning to live in the river. That's why Muskingum River Advisory Council President, Joy Padgett, says it's an unrecognized resource in the area.

Some concerned citizens in Southeastern Ohio are asking for help for the Muskingum River.

According to Dave Matthew of Dresden . "It's a huge endeavor, a 2 million dollar project. We're looking for support and some of the grant money that's out there."

Ohio State Parks are ready to open nine of the 10 locks located along the Muskingum River.

Lock nine in Philo will remain closed for construction purposes. These historic locks were made in the 1840's and continue to be operated by hand cranking.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources recognizes these pieces as a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. Operators work out of the Dillion State Park Region office.

The Lorena Sternwheeler is back in business this summer.

Public rides have been scheduled starting June 5th and continuing through October.

An almost week-long hunt for two missing men from Licking County is at end. 

29-year-olds Ben Davis and Ryan Hickey were last seen alive at the Foxhole last Tuesday. They were were reported missing by family when they failed to show up for work the following day.

Monday their bodies were found in a submerged car in the Muskingum River near Harpers Auto Body, around 11:15 p.m.

The rainy weather may be the culprit of a hole in the Muskingum River canal in downtown Zanesville.

The city was made aware of the hole around 12:30 this afternoon.

City Engineer Chip Saunders said a team of city workers is out on the scene.

With the rain from this weekend, one county is noticing the river creeping up to their doorstep.

Residents in Morgan County are no stranger to floods. While the Muskingum River is not at flood stage yet, it is getting very close to homes and roads near the river. Morgan County resident, Hope Holbrook, says she is not worried about the river yet, but has noticed the high water level and strong current.
