There's a segment of homeless in our area that's growing.
Over the past year organizers of this year's homeless count said they've seen more homeless families. Some of those have found their way to the Salvation Army's Shelter.
"Over the last year I've seen a significant increase in the shelter with families, whether it is headed by a father or a mother," said Shelter Manger Karen Walker. "We have had a significant increase in families becoming homeless."
