Sunday marks the beginning of National Police Week, which recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officials.

A Peace Officer Memorial Service was held Saturday at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5, to honor the memory of fallen officers, including the father of Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz, who died on the job.

It's National Police Week and Ohio's Attorney General is doing his part to thank those who help keep us safe.

Speaking on the lawn of the Licking County Courthouse, Attorney General Mike Dewine thanked Licking County deputies, police officers, and state troopers for their continued dedication and service to public safety. Wednesday's ceremony was also a time to remember those in Licking County that have fallen in the line of duty.
