One local group of artists are pushing to revitalize the former New Lexington Municipal Building.

The Perry County Opera House and Culture Arts Center Group have been gathering the 3rd Sunday of each month in the basement of New Lexington's Lutheran Church. Maysville used a strong fifth game to get victory over visiting Sheridan at the Panther Pound. There may be no area team ready to put last season behind them more than the New Lexington Panthers. A 2-8 record is nothing any team wants to duplicate, but on The Rock, 2-8 is beyond unacceptable, and almost unheard of. The season that was a year ago is in the rear view mirror, as Coach Bill Nutt and his crew attempt to focus on what made the Pathers go during the 2008 state semifinal run. Three area fire departments are battling a house fire in New Lexington.
 

The fire broke out around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday  at a home on State Route 37 east near Commerce Drive in New Lexington.
 

Junction City and Crooksville Fire Departments along with New Lexington are on the scene.

Six days of good food and entertainment kick off bright and early Monday morning.

The Perry County Fair will open Monday in New Lexington. Vendors, rides and attractions began moving in on Thursday afternoon but Fair Board Director Julie Stenson said fair planning actually began this time last year.

"It's a year long deal and these couple weeks before with doing all the prep and everything it's tiring," said Stenson. "A lot goes into it but we all love it....
