Crews from several area fire departments are on the scene of a fire at 6785 Old Town Road in Newton Township.

They were called to the home around 6:15 p.m.

One person was taken to the hospital Monday evening after a fire on Ridgley Road.

According to Lt. Chas Cosgrave with the Newtown Township Fire Department, the fire broke out at 8711 Ridgley around 8 p.m.

Lt. Cosgrave says the fire was quickly contained and damage was mainly to the attic and rear of the house.

One occupant of the home was taken to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Some local firefighters are putting down the hoses and stepping into the kitchen.

Over 1,000 barbecued chicken halves were served to the public Sunday afternoon at the Newton Township Fire Department's annual event.

Authorities were called to the scene of a fire Tuesday night in Newton Township.

The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. at 5645 Limestone Valley Road.

According to the Newton Township Fire Department, the homeowner left two hours before the fire started.

The home is destroyed. The fire is under investigation and we'll bring you more details as they become available.
