The Ohio Department of Transportation County Manager, Phil Valentine, says a degree or two in temperature makes all the difference when it comes to winter storms and how bad the roads get. Valentine says ODOT's primary focus is keeping the roads salted and free of ice.

Many around southeastern Ohio are waking up to snow.

Currently, the Ohio Department of Transportation  vehicles are on the roadways working to clear the roadways.

According to ODOT 16 of the 24 snow crews are on the roadways this morning. At this time they report .50 inches of snow at their Zanesville garage.

In Coshocton County eight crews are on the roads. They also report .50 inches of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area starting at 10 a.m Tuesday, and the Ohio Department of Transportation is getting ready.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says that the State Street on- ramp for I-70 westbound is currently open but will close again this upcoming Monday.

The closure will allow contractors to replace the existing guardrail at the site with a permanent concrete barrier wall.

The ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m and open back up on Monday evening weather permitting.

Students at Foxfire took a different type of test on Monday, one that didn't involve studying or books.

A dispatcher with the Ohio State Highway Patrol says it is all clear on the interstate.

While motorists got their first taste of driving in winter weather, the Ohio Department of Transportation got their first look at clearing it off roadways.

Muskingum County had twelve of their twenty-four trucks out on the roads treating them with salt. Crews came in at midnight to try and get ahead of the freezing precipitation.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says an area off ramp from I-70 will be closed for part of Saturday.  Officials say the eastbound exit for 5th street in Zanesville will be closed from 9:30 a.m. until 12 noon.  O-dot says the ramp is being closed due to the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Zanesville.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said they'll continue work on Interstate 70 between 7th Street and State Route 93 this weekend.

ODOT said the passing lane portion of Interstate 70 west will close Sunday at 7p.m. for removal and replacement of the existing concrete bridge deck.

The closure will remain in effect until Thursday September 26, weather permitting. Traffic will be maintained in one 14 foot lane during this closure.

Wednesday evening motorists will experience a shift in the traffic pattern west of State Route 79.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said that Interstate 70 eastbound traffic will be shifted to the median where each of the 12-foot driving lanes will be separated by a permanent median barrier wall.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution through this area and obey all posted signs.

This work is part of the $10.5 million project to replace and widen the twin I-70...
