The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help identifying a man found in the Muskingum River Friday afternoon.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, around 1:00 p.m. the body of a white, middle-aged male with dark hair, a mustache and a goatee was recovered from the river. The man had no identification on him. Officials are hoping some distinctive features will help lead to discovering his identity.

Boating season is right around the corner, which means the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is conducting vessel saftey checks.

As part of "National Safe Boating Week", people brought their boats to the Riverside Ramp on the Muskingum River to have them inspected by a State Watercraft Officer. The Muskingum County Commissioners are giving the public an opportunity to voice its concerns regarding flood legislation.

Ohio's fall wild turkey hunting season is underway, and so far, hunters have already bagged almost 300 of the birds.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources indicates the season is popular in our area. 438 turkeys were harvested last year, with totals in Coshocton, Muskingum, and Guernsey Counties topping the list. The season will last through the end of November.

Around 230,000 wild turkeys are inhabiting Ohio, just in time for the start of the Fall Wild Turkey Hunting season. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says it's a better outlook than last year's season, when more than 2,000 wild turkeys were hunted.

With temperatures in the 90's this weekend you can bet there will be plenty of people boating.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Deputy Director Tony Celebrezze said a new boat ramp and recent renovations were dedicated Thursday at Buckeye Lake. Now boaters can get in the water faster which is great in this heat.

A Columbus couple is in good condition at Grant Medical Center after a boating accident last evening.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on Buckeye Lake near Fireman's Island in Licking County.

Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft spokesman, John Wisse, says an 18-foot bass boat, carrying 47-year-old Brian Trudeau and his wife 41-year-old Cindy, collided with a 21-foot pleasure boat, carrying 23-year-old Justin Morrison and his brother 27-year-old Tom Huskey....

Two people were flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus Friday after a boat accident on Buckeye Lake shortly before 6 p.m

According to John Wisse, spokesman with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Watercraft, the victims were a male and a female. He says little details are known about the accident, just that it was a collision between two boats. He's unsure if any other people were injured.

Charges were announced Saturday against five people for what authorities say was a poaching ring involving deer and wild turkey.
