The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says snow-covered roads and traveling at an unsafe speed led to the closing of one lane on Interstate 70 westbound last night.

A semi truck lost control around 10 p.m. Trooper Trenas Weaver says the driver went off the left side of the road into the median.

ODOT did close the passing lane until about 1:30 a.m. to allow crews to clear the scene.

Ohio traffic deaths fell last year, but rose in our area.

The Zanesville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol had 15 fatalities in 2008 and 22 fatalities in 2009. Despite the heavy snow storms of 2010, the Zanesville Post has had minimal fatalities.

"The Zanesville Post covers a two county area, Coshocton and Muskingum County. We have had one traffic fatality in Coshocton county and none in Muskingum county," tells Trooper Mark Masters.

 The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol is on the scene of a 14 car pile-up. A dispatcher says 12 cars slide off Interstate 70 in Licking County and 2 trucks jack-knifed.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. just east of Ohio 310 near mile marker 119.

ODOT spokeswoman Kate Stickle says the incident isn't causing any lane closures but drivers should be prepared for major delays.

No injuries are being reported.

An Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser is hit on Interstate 70 in Guernsey County this afternoon while the trooper was responding to a commercial truck in the median.

A Cambridge Post dispatcher says the trooper was out of the vehicle and aiding a truck driver who had jack-knifed into the median. He had his lights on a was attempting to slow down traffic when the dispatcher says a new jersey driver lost control of his vehicle, spun out, and hit the cruiser.

The Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol says last night's back-up on Interstate 70 was caused by two separate accidents.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near Gratiot.

Dispatchers say a Hummer that was pulling a trailor lost control and went off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail.

Five people are sent to Good Samaritan Hospital after a two car accident.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. on State Route  60 near Narrows Road in Dresden.

A 17-year-old male is facing an array of charges after leading the State Highway Patrol on a high-speed chase early yesterday morning and damaging three police cruisers.

Two 16-year-olds are sent to the hospital after a morning accident.

It happened around 10 a.m. on State Route 146/Chandlersville Road.

The Zanesville Post of the State Highway Patrol says the driver was traveling west and going around a curve in the road when he lost control of his truck and rolled-over.
