Zane State College and Ohio University-Zanesville held their annual "College Day" program at the Campus Center. Students were able to take a quick look into 70 different colleges within the region.

After years of planning and fundraising, financial plans for the Muskingum Recreation Center are
ready to be finalized.

Muskingum County Community Foundation Executive Director David Mitzel updated members of the Zanesville Noon Rotary Club about the plans, which he said have been in the works for over 5 years.

Local educators are thinking outside the box to meet the needs of all students.

On Friday, Ohio University-Zanesville hosted the Rural Urban Collaborative Education Symposium.  Coordinator Frans Doppen said the collaborative is a partnership among Ohio University, Ohio Dominican University and their respective school partners to help prepare students for their roles as teachers in an ever-changing world.

It was a one stop shop for many high school juniors and seniors thinking about their future college plans.

Ohio University-Zanesville and its partners are moving ahead with plans for a recreation center and want your input.

The University already hosted one community input meeting on the new facility and will be holding another meeting next week to hear what residents have to say. Most have already expressed a great interest in having an indoor public pool tailored to fit everyone's needs.

Is it possible that Zanesville may see plans underway to build a recreation center in the near future?

That's a question that has been on the minds of four local partners. Ohio University-Zanesville, Genesis Healthcare System, the Muskingum County Community Foundation, and the YMCA have been exploring this idea, and should have a definite decision in about six months.

The Ohio University-Zanesville campus is not reporting any confirmed cases of the the H1-N1 virus.

Public Relations Coordinator, Chris Shaw, says OU-Z benefits from being a commuter campus and not having students live in dormitories.

"The students come and go. They aren't here as long throughout the day. So, I think that helps out a lot, " says Shaw.
