The Village of Thornville was celebrating the Fourth of July in a special way Friday.

Flags and community residents lined the streets this morning to enjoy a long time community event. One local man, Ben Orr says he has been attending the parade for 30 years now. For him, it is a long time tradition.

For more than 25 years the South Zanesville Business Association Parade has provided the local community with a spectacular holiday display.

This year the parade's theme was "It's a Hollywood Christmas" and took several months to execute.

A large number of community members lined up in front of the Colony Square Mall to welcome Santa Claus to town.

The 11th Annual Santa's Arrival Parade took place on Saturday. Santa was there along with more than 30 other features, which included miniature horses, llamas, law enforcement agencies and more. Children were able to pick up candy and interact with all of the fun characters during the parade.

Veterans, community leaders, and the public all gathered downtown to celebrate our American Heroes.

The annual Muskingum County Veteran's Day Parade took place this morning . The parade was filled with candy for children, music, and plenty of decorated floats. Although this was a joyous event Vietnam Veteran, James Parker says that the public is unaware of the struggles many veterans still face at home.

The Gratiot United Methodist Church Parade on the 4th of July has been cancelled.  Pastor Matt Blau says due to the continued power outage in the village the parade and community meal at the firehouse has been cancelled.

The Memorial Day weekend stepped off on a good note for Buckeye Lake, with their 6th annual parade.
 

The day was sponsored by the Buckeye Lake Museum and although Memorial Day traditionally kicks off the start of the summer season, all proceeds will benefit the Buckeye Lake Community Christmas Celebration. A soldier from our area is returning home from combat and the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office is asking for your support.

A welcome home parade will be held on Friday for Sergeant Gary Hargraves. He is a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves and has been in Afghanistan since last April. Sheriff Matt Lutz said the event was put together by his deputies and detectives.

Thousands gathered along the Maysville Pike Sunday to watch the annual South Zanesville Holiday Parade.

The Parade highlighted creativity with a variety of uniquely designed floats. This year they even introduced a new theme.

Local residents are also lining the streets to honor our local veterans.

Following the dedication ceremony, was the annual Veterans Day Parade. Those in the crowd not only cheered for the veterans of past wars, but soldiers who are currently serving.

A variety of floats were on display including families of active duty troops, marching bands, and local clubs.

It's our chance as a community to honor all of those who have served and continue to serve our country.

Veterans, scout troops, and others will take part in this years' Veterans Day parade in Zanesville.
