Grant money helps to make city workers safer on the job site.

Thursday the City Water Department unveiled four new new traffic signals bought partially with grant money from the Bureau of Workers Compensation. These wireless lights can withstand eighty mile an hour winds and will be used when city workers are doing road projects.

The lights can also be set up further away from the actually job site creating a safer working environment.

The Village of Dresden, New Lexington and New Concord have all experienced severe water main breaks in the past few weeks. Officials from the Zanesville Water Department say they have also experienced breaks, but are lucky that none have been detrimental.

Water Superintendent, Paul Mills says that water main breaks have decreased from 268 in 2012 to 206 in 2013. This year Mills says they have only been called out to fix a few so far.

The City of Zanesville Water Department is currently working to repair ten-inch water main that broke Wednesday morning at Hall Avenue and Malinda Street.

The break to a 10 inch line took place sometime between 6:00-6:30 and has closed Hall Avenue from Underwood to Gattrell Street. Water Department Superintendent Paul Mills said that the break should take two-three hours to repair.
