The hot and humid but dry weather conditions are right on time for the Perry County Fair.

The annual fair, that lasts all this week, started Monday morning with rides, games, food, and initial showcasing and judging of various mediums including sowing, art and of course farm animals from cows to pigs to turkeys.

"I showed a turkey and what you do is, they announce my name and I walk up and put him on the table and then a judge will walk around and he will check your turkey...

Perry County wrapped up their fair Saturday.

The last day marks the end of a busy week. Final day activities include the sale of exhibitor's animals, cleaning of the pens and packing up for home-finishing another successful year for families and clubs.

"The Fair pulls the community together, if nothing else. Everybody gets together, you see people you haven't seen for a year. The County Fair accomplishes that. It also gives the kids the opportunity to show off...

The Perry County Fair is officially underway.

There are carnival rides, games and lots of fried food. But for many the county fair is the time to show off your hard work and dedication to your 4-H club. For some this isn't the only show they go to all summer, and for others it is the biggest.

"I go to open shows. Those are mini fairs, so you just show in those and then come here. This is the end of the year for us," said Calvin Swartz, a member of the Country Roads...

"We do have some troopers they come to Perry County, they've been good to us they bare the heat and they come to the fair," said Bowers.

Six days of good food and entertainment kick off bright and early Monday morning.

The Perry County Fair will open Monday in New Lexington. Vendors, rides and attractions began moving in on Thursday afternoon but Fair Board Director Julie Stenson said fair planning actually began this time last year.

"It's a year long deal and these couple weeks before with doing all the prep and everything it's tiring," said Stenson. "A lot goes into it but we all love it....

It's all fun and games at the Perry County Fair in New Lexington.

From exicting rides to tasty food, there is something for everybody. The fair has been around for nearly 53 years.

Lee Wiseman, Coordinator, recalls the first fair, "It was just you had a tent right out here where you have the collesium now, it was just nothing like it is now, church stands and a few rides, but nothing like what we have today. "

Wiseman says a must see at the fair is the Porkchop...
