Zanesville City Council passed an emergency ordinance at Monday's meeting that will allow the Zanesville Police Department to purchase new computers and replacement central processing units (CPUs). It's not everyday you get to shop with a cop, but on Monday, that's exactly what 40 area students from Muskingum, Morgan and Coshocton counties did.

Every year the Fraternal Order of Police Associates Lodge gives kids and teens a Christmas they may not otherwise get. They give each student over $100 to spend, team them up with law enforcement officers and send them shopping at Walmart to get whatever they want.

Muskingum University in New Concord was evacuated and closed on Thursday after a bomb threat.

Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency Director Bo Keck says that at around 12:45 p.m. the school received a bomb threat via the university's 1-800 number. Officials asked all students, faculty and visitors to vacate the premises in order to facilitate a campus wide investigation.

Captain Tony Coury says an undercover police officer arrested 83-year-old Russell Smith of Roseville Tuesday afternoon. Smith was convicted of 1 count of menacing and Judge William Joseph sentenced Smith to 90 days in jail. Coury says Smith wasn't trying to grab anyone, but possibly attempting to "entice" someone into his car.

Zanesville Police now say a missing woman has been found. 

Detective Ric Roush say the family of 40-year-old Angela McCormick made contact with her and the search is now over.

The local Fraternal Order of Police Zane Lodge 5 welcomes a new slate of officers for the year 2010.

Tonight those in the lodge gathered together for dinner and ceremony. FOP President Tom Porter says being elected comes with responsibilities.

While many people are home with their families, others had to sacrifice their holiday and work.

Firefighters and police officers in Zanesville didn't get to spend the day with their families, but they say spending it with their friends and co-workers isn't bad at all.
