A power outage has knocked Whiz T-V and 92.7 Whiz F-M radio off the air and residents in the Wheeler Road Area are without power. Initial reports indicate that a tree fell knocking down power lines which are blocking Wheeler Road. The Zanesville Fire Department is on the scene trying to clear away the tree. American Electric Power has also been called to the scene. No injuries are reported. No word yet when service will be restored.

The severe thunderstorms that ripped through our area and the rest of Ohio are still being felt on Thursday. Here are the latest power outage numbers from our region. A power outage forced both Zane State College and Ohio University Zanesville to suspend classes until noon today. The power has now been restored. It happened this morning and affected over 2600 American Electric Power customers. An A-E-P spokesman says a squirrel got into a sub-station and caused the disruption of power. Everything now is back to normal. Both schools will resume classes starting at 12 noon today (Wednesday)

The power outages left many without a way to make any food, so restaurants with power like Tee Jay's on Maple Avenue were packed with hungry people.

General manager, Jim Shields, says he never expected to see this many people and even let some workers go home early. Some customers avoided the roads and walked to Tee Jay's while others drove carefully under the code red roads.

Power has been restored to AEP customers in Coshocton County according to its website aepohio.com.

American Electric Power is reporting around 1,000 of its customers in Coshocton County are without service.

Officials say they haven't been able to determine the location or cause of the outage.

They hope to have power restored to customers later this afternoon.

Some area residents were without power Thursday  morning.

A spokesman from Guernsey Muskingum Electric Cooperative says around 940 customers lost power due to high winds.

Most of those affected by the outages were in the Dresden/Nashport areas. 

Power was restored late Thursday morning.

Power is back on for about 400 Licking County residents.

The outage occurred in Jacksontown around 11:30 this morning.

An Energy Cooperative spokesperson says it was caused by equipment failure.

The outaged lasted about two hours.

An AEP spokesman says power has been restored to residents in New Concord.  The spokesman says there was a problem with a transmission line that fed the substation.  Residents were without power for around 3 hours.

American Electric Power says about 1,400 people are without power in New Concord tonight.

The outage happened around 5:30 p.m.

Crews are on the scene fixing the problem...

*****UPDATE****A-E-P says power has been restored to customers in Muskingum County.  Just under 200 were left without service this morning due to high winds.  In Guernsey County A-E-P says there are still 256 customers without service.  This morning there were over 1600 with power due to high winds.  Cambridge area residents are expected to have service restored by mid-afternoon.
