A sewer separation project in downtown Zanesville will be put on hold.

It's located near the intersection of Marietta Street by 8th and Hughes Streets.

Zanesville Public Service Director, Mike Sims, says crews have run into a problem. The underground soil is poor.

"The contractor is supposed to be working out of a six foot wide trench, and due to the wet, sandy material, we're ending up with an extremely wide trench, " says Sims.
