Zanesville Police investigated an early morning accident on Putnam Avenue.

Police said that around 1:40 Wednesday morning a car drove into the M&M Pawn Shop.

Lt. Chris Phipps said that no one was hurt and there was no damage done to the building. Lt. Phipps said the driver will probably be cited, but won't know until the paper work is completed.

Three cars were involved in a late-morning accident on the 6th Street Bridge Wednesday.

The accident happened just after 11a.m. at the intersection of Putnam Avenue and Muskingum Avenue of the south end of the bridge.

The Zanesville Police Department tells WHIZ that a silver Chevy Impala traveling west-bound on Muskingum Avenue ran a red light and crashed into a red Chevy Blazer trying to turn left onto Putnam Avenue.

A house fire sent one person to the hospital on Thursday night.

Zanesville Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Thomas said he received the call around 9 PM at 1216 Putnam Avenue.

"When we got here, we found the residence full of smoke," said Thomas.  "It turned out that the dryer had locked up and overheated.  It started a fire inside the dryer and smoked up the house."

The Muskingum County Women, Infants, and Children Office will temporarily be closed while in the process of moving.

The WIC office located at 716 Adair Avenue will be closed next Wednesday through Friday. WIC will move to a new location at the Help Me Grow Building on 333 Putnam Avenue.

A Zanesville business suffers major damage after a fire around 6pm Wednesday.

Authorities are calling the fire at Zane Trace Clean Care Uniforms at 763 Putnam Avenue suspicious. According to Zanesville Assistant Fire Chief David Huey the owner's alarm system indicated a break-in that was shortly followed by the fire alarm.

Firefighters spent much of the night battling a major house fire in Zanesville.

Zanesville Fire Chief Dave Lacy said they got the call just after 1:00 Friday morning that a vacant house was burning at the corner of Putnam and Lincoln.

"It started actually on the front porch. It did get through into the first and second floors and in the attic. Firefighters were on scene about three hours putting that fire completely out, " Lacy said.

A Zanesville man pled not-guilty Wednesday to two charges related to a Putnam Avenue robbery at gunpoint.

18-year-old Taylor Allen is charged with a first-degree-felony count of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification and felonious assault with a firearm specification in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.

A man was grazed by a gunshot Friday on Putnam Avenue in Zanesville.

The call came in shortly before 8:30 at 1036 Putnam Avenue. Zanesville Police Officers on the scene said they're not yet sure of a motive for the attack, but it could have been an attempted robbery. One shot was fired at the victim and grazed his leg slightly.

Business owners on Putnam Avenue are banding together to fight for their stoplights.

A survey done by the Ohio Department of Transportation is recommending taking down the stop lights at either Pierce Street or Harrison Street on Putnam Avenue. Now it is up to the city to make a decision and business owners are up in arms about the stop lights being removed.

Thanksgiving Day begins tragically for one local family as they lose their home to fire.

The Zanesville Fire Department was dispatched to the home of Laura Davis, David Kennedy and Chasity and Lynn Davis around 4:30 Thursday morning when smoke was reported in the rear of the home at 1033 Putnam Avenue.
