A 29-year-old Zanesville man received a three-year-prison sentence Monday for sex crimes.

John Murphy pled guilty in January to two fourth-degree-felony counts of gross sexual imposition. Monday in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court Judge Mark Fleegle sentenced him to 18 months on each count.

According to assistant prosecutor Bob Smith, Murphy was originally charged with forcible rape after DNA evidence linked him to a rape of an aquaintance on June 6, 2008.
