The cool and damp weather wasn't enough to stop some avid golfers tee off for a great cause Thursday afternoon

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross held their 22nd Annual Golf Outing at the Jaycees Golf Course in Zanesville. Residents of Southeastern Ohio were waiting to give blood at Secrest Auditorium Friday.

A steady stream of blood donors made their way to the theater. The Central Ohio Red Cross Region that ran Friday's drive is responsible for 27 counties and supplies 41 hospitals.

Statistics show that only 4% of the population donates blood on a regular basis and the Muskingum Valley Red Cross is hoping to change that.

Some locals had a chance to eat a delicious breakfast Saturday morning and also help a good cause.

The Muskingum Valley Red Cross hosted a pancake breakfast at Applebee's in Zanesville. Tickets were $5.00 and all proceeds benefited the organization.

The American Red Cross is ready to provide assistance for Japan during this time of devastation.

An excess of rain can be one of the most dangerous natural disasters, partially due to flooding. When flooding is a possibility you must have a plan.

Blood counts were extremely low this winter, but February got the count back on track.

Between the 27 counties in the Central Ohio Region they need 650 units of blood daily. The bad weather in December and January caused drive cancelations and bad turn outs. The result was a dangerously low blood count.

The month of January has been a rather difficult one for the Red Cross in Southeast Ohio.

Over the last four weeks, twelve fires have broken out across the area leaving many families homeless. And with such a high number, the Red Cross's budget has been stretched very thin, but have been able to make ends meet.
