Riesbeck's Pick'n Save on Howard street in Zanesville is prepping for the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

Assistant store director Steve Fusner says the store has already started ordering the items that fly of the shelves in the wake of a storm.

"We really haven't noticed an increase yet, but we look for it coming." said Fusner. "We've stock-piled on vegetables and milk and eggs, and have a delivery of ice coming."

One Zanesville grocery store has remained open through out all the power outages and although they went without water and ice Friday and Saturday they now have all the supplies they need.

Riesbeck's Pick 'n' Save on Howard Street and the South Zanesville location have re-filled their freezers and stocked their shelves.

One lucky shopper rushed to grab as many groceries as possible in a minute and a half at Riesbeck's.

Susan Morgan of Zanesville nabbed $190 worth of food during her spree put on by the store to raise money for Operation Feed. In her cart were crab legs, two hams, shrimp and coffee.

"It went good, got everything I needed except my laundry soap," said Morgan with a laugh.

One local grocery store is getting in on the Operation Feed action.

Riesbeck's Pick 'N Save is helping Operation Feed but will also be helping a lucky customer.

"Every year Operation Feed has a food drive and we participate in one form or another, in year's past we've had food drives where people drop food off. This year we decided to do something different, we're having a 90-second shopping spree," said manager Rich Daugherty.

For the first time since before Prohibition, alcohol will soon be sold in New Concord.

On Tuesday, voters gave the Riesbeck's on Main Street the right to sell beer, wine and mixed beverages Monday through Saturday.  WHIZ caught up with customers outside the food market to find out how they feel about the change.  Don Shepherd has lived in New Concord for most of his life, and he said alcohol sales will benefit the community.

With the state of the economy and high gas prices, local families in need can use your help.

Operation Feed is hosting Riesbeck's Food Parade this Saturday at the Riesbeck's Pick'n Save on Howard Street.  The community is encouraged to drop off food donations or purchase five dollar pre-made bags of needed items available inside the store.  President of Muskingum Hunger Network, Tom Cover, says the community's support is extremely important.
