The last time Rosecrans (14-0) earned a number one ranking in 1999, the Bishops immediately fell in a trap-game at Bishop Watterson. This time around, Rosecrans pulled out the victory over their former C.C.L. opponent one day after being named the top ranked team in Division IV. However, it didn't come easy at the Eagles Nest. Bishop Watterson (3-10), who played unbeaten Bishop Hartley and St. Francis Desales to four and two-point games respectively, led by one with one minute to play. That'...
The newest Associated Press Poll is out, and the Rosecrans Bishops are number one in the state for the first time in school history. The Bishops have been inching towards Dayton Jefferson Township, the defending Division IV state champions. This week they passed them, despite receiving five less first place votes. In Division II, Zanesville continues their ascent, moving from six to five this week in the latest rankings.
It wasn't easier for the Zanesville Blue Devils the second time around against East Liverpool, but it was still a victory. ZHS grabs their sixth win in a row, defeating the Potters for the second time this season, 69-58. Zanesville started out sluggish and didn't have the intensity that has defined their play in recent weeks, but still managed to defeat the Potters for the second time this season, this time while they were at full strength, with the return of PG Marky Tompkins. Tanner Gibson...
Before the game, Zanesville head coach Scott Aronhalt preached to his kids the motto that this Blue Devil team has lived by all season: Set the Tempo. In no game was it more important than the eleventh game of Zanesville's year, against the defending Division I state champions, the Massillon Jackson Polar Bears. Coming into the game, Jackson was riding a 23 game winning streak, scoring 75 points a game in nine wins this season. Zanesville held them to 55 in a 58-55 victory, Jackson's first...
History normally repeats itself, but tonight in front of a packed house at Winland Memorial Gymnasium, history reversed itself. The Zanesville Blue Devils improved to 8-2 with a 50-30 victory over the Tri-Valley Scotties, a near mirror image of the 47-30 Tri-Valley victory over the Blue Devils a year ago. The Dawgs scored the first bucket of the game, but it was all Zanesville from there. Tanner Gibson leading the Blue Devils with 16 points, Cole Carpenter behind him with 11 points and...
Coming off an eight day holiday break, Rosecrans returned to action in style running wild on the winless Mustangs of Claymont 50-37. Aaron Parry led the Red and Black attack with a double-double, pouring in 16 points and 10 boards to push the Bishops to a perfect 10-0 mark.
