In his senior year at Rosecrans, Scott Moyer lead the Bishops to their first ever playoff berth while playing quarterback. Now Moyer is back at it again. This time though he is leading the Bishops as their head coach. Moyer is one of the youngest head men in the state of Ohio and will look to guied Rosecrans to the Playoffs for the third consecutive year. Jeremy Rauch caught up with the new coach during a practice recently. For more on the story click the video link.

Football seaons has kicked off in Southeast Ohio and local teams are gearing up for their season opener which happens in less than a month. Over the next few weeks WHIZ will take an inside look at all the Muskingum Valley League schools along with Bishop Rosecrans and Zanesville in our annual two a day team previews. Local baseball stand out and Rosecrans grad Jerod Yakubik was selected today in the 34th round by the Los Angeles Angels. The Ohio University senior became the third Bobcat selected in this years draft.

Yakubik recorded 19 doubles this past season for the Bobcats in 243 plate appearences. He was a main stay in the lineup for Ohio, hitting safely in 22 consecutive games which ties for the 10th longest streak in MAC history. With in the conference Yakubik was first in doubles with...

And then there were 11. This afternoon, the East Central Ohio League added a new member to their ever-expanding league. After a 7-3 vote from member schools, Steubenville was approved for membership in the ECOL, which has now added four member schools in the past calendar year. On the heels of Zanesville, Rosecrans, and Marietta, the Big Red out of Jefferson County will push the ECOL to 11 schools. A local student is proud to be a winner of a Woman of Achievement Award.

Rosecrans Senior Olivia Durant received the Bright Future Award and she said she was shocked she was selected.

"It's a great honor I think to be chosen out of so many great youth leaders in our community and I'm really thankful that coach bullock thought of me," Durant said.
