Many around Southeastern Ohio seek a way to keep warm in these below zero temperatures.

The Salvation Army is serving as a warming shelter for those in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties. In the week it's been open a few people have stopped in, including a person who lost power.

Keeping kids warm for the winter becomes a major goal for one local business.

Friday, representatives of Terry's Tavern presented the Salvation Army, on behalf of the tavern and its patrons, with a $1,000  for their "Coats for Kids Campaign." A local fundraiser provided monetary donations to five service organizations in our area.

This year, the 17th Annual Souper Bowl raised enough money to give away five $2,500 checks to Christ's Table, Eastside Community Ministries, The Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christ, and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors.

A local organization visited WHIZ's Z92 Radio Station to set up headquarters for their annual fundraising event.

For more than 40 years,  the Zanesville Jaycee's have participated in C Day, an event where members  pick up can goods, toys, and clothes from the community and donate them to the local Salvation Army . This year they were able to pick up even more items for the good cause.

For the past 17 years local bikers have ridden together to provide Christmas toys for area children.

An army of volunteers took to the streets to find homeless in our area.

Between 75-90 volunteers took part in the point in time count to help count homeless in our area. The group covered all of Zanesville and traveled to the outlying areas of Dresden and Frazeysburg. During the count nine unsheltered homeless were located.
