The Salvation Army honors a tradition that's been going on since 1938.

Traditionally, National Donut Day takes place the first Friday in June. The day honors the "Doughnut Lassies", women from the Salvation Army that traveled overseas during World War I and II to serve the tasty treats to soldiers.

Keeping kids warm for the winter becomes a major goal for one local business.

Friday, representatives of Terry's Tavern presented the Salvation Army, on behalf of the tavern and its patrons, with a $1,000  for their "Coats for Kids Campaign." A local fundraiser provided monetary donations to five service organizations in our area.

This year, the 17th Annual Souper Bowl raised enough money to give away five $2,500 checks to Christ's Table, Eastside Community Ministries, The Salvation Army, Fellowship of Christ, and the Muskingum County Center for Seniors.

A local organization visited WHIZ's Z92 Radio Station to set up headquarters for their annual fundraising event.
