Zanesville 1 - West Muskingum 3

(ZANESVILLE) -- A hat trick from Amman Lalusa proved too much for the Zanesville, as West M picked up the win 3-1 on Saturday.  Freshman Doug Welker provided the Blue Devils only score in the losing effort.  It's the first win of the year for the Tornadoes, and the first defeat of the season for ZHS.

Many thought the Tri-Valley Scotties' playoff hopes were dead after its loss to Sheridan last year.  However, that wasn't the case.

Not only did the Dawgs make the postseason; they shocked the region, knocking off two-seed New Albany in Week 11.

Yet this came as no surprise to folks in Dresden.  Those fans have been expecting victory since the arrival of head coach Justin Buttermore, who, this season, looks to continues his team's recent...

It was a game that some thought would be a blowout, but it played out more like an instant classic.  Tri-Valley and Upper Arlington's week one clash went all the way down to the wire, before the Golden Bears nabbed up a 24-17 victory.

This season's matchup promises to be just as exciting.  And to help us get ready, Scottie coach Justin Buttermore sat down with WHIZ to go over last year's film in our first edition of the Football Film Session.

Preseason High School Football

Zanesville 13, Tri-Valley 7

(DRESDEN) -- The Zanesville Blue Devils picked up a win in their final tune up before the start of the 2011 High School football season, but not in the way the Red, White, and Blue had envisioned.

Fresh off the school's fourth trip to the OHSAA playoffs, ZHS needed two fourth-down conversions on its opening drive, the latter a nine yard run from K.J. Grimmet that broke a...

There may not be a team hungrier than the Dogs in Dresden.  Last year, for the first time in six years, Tri-Valley did not win the MVL Title. As the calendar flips ahead, the Scotties will be looking to turn back the clock on their hardcourt dominance.  Click the video link on the left to view the story.

Zanesville Senior Braily Blair did it all in 2010.

After an injury to Senior Talen Hutchison during two-a-days, Blair stepped up into the running game and led the Blue Devils in that category for most of the season.

He finished with 830 yards and 13 touchdowns.

When surrounded by a relatively young secondary, Blair responded....

Tri-Valley's Eli Martin has signed with Kent State to pitch for the Golden Flashes. The Scotties ace enters his Senior campaign in Dresden having won awards such as first team All-Ohio and MVL player of the year for his 8-1 record and 0.57 ERA last season.
