It is a busy day for emergency crews in our area.

Car accidents, cars running off the road and cars rolling over have kept law enforcement running from accident to accident Friday. Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Mike Warner says the accidents can come from a combination of factors.

"People don't pay attention, they don't leave soon enough, they don't allow enough room between vehicles and compensate for the slippery roads and they really need to slow down and leave...

While the professionals are out treating the roads, there are things you can do to battle the snow at home.

The Sunrise Do It Center on East Pike says it has seen a definite increase in the amount of people stocking up on the winter essentials.

"Stock up on ice melter and rock salt.  The ice melter is more for concrete, the rock salt is more for a general away from the house type thing," tells Dennis Baldwin a salesman with the Sunrise Do It Center.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for our area and the Ohio Department of Transporation says its road ready.

ODOT spokeswoman, Kate Stickle, says the rain predicted to hit before the snow is causing a minor problem.

"But this storm is unique, it is forecasted in that it will be rain before the snow hits so we wont be brining because the snow would wash off the brine," says Stickle.

But ODOT is readying their snow plows with...

Southeastern Ohio is dealing with a snowy and cold winter.

Since December, we haven't many significant snowfalls, but we have had consistent snow showers that have dumped enough of the white stuff to cause problems across the area.

That's why some area schools were forced to cancel classes for the day, and others went on a two-hour delay, including Zanesville City Schools.

Operations Services Coordinator, Kevin Appleman, says the district tries to shoot for the two-hour...

Many cars ended up in the shop after last week's snow storm.

The snow is coming down, and it's providing a challenge to crews that are trying to treat roadways.

"We have a great weather system we use through our central office. They monitor the system as well as our county managers at every county garage. They monitor the systems. Their transportation managers monitor it, " says Stickle...
