A scary situation unfolded for those traveling on Newark Road around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The State Highway Patrol said 62-year-old Robert Snyder Jr. of Zanesville was driving a jeep east on Newark Road when he went off the right side of the road near Adams Lane and then crossed through the west bound lanes, driving down an embankment and crashing through the top of a garage owned by Briarwood Millwork Company.

Two people walk away with only minor injuries after their vehicle.

A witness said that he was traveling south on Millers Lane when he saw the 2002 Monte Carlo in front of him veer off the side of the road and hit cinders. He said the car tried to correct, but hit a fence and spiraled through the air.

Officials from three different law enforcement agencies take part in a chase ending in Duncan Falls. 

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said the incident started in South Zanesville during a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle. The sheriff said when the black pickup truck failed to stop for police around 11:45 a.m.. authorities from his department joined in the pursuit.

A Norwich man passed away following a two vehicle accident Wednesday night.

The State Highway Patrol said it's investigating the accident that took place around 10:30p.m. on US 22 at Sundale Road in Union Township, Muskingum County.

Troopers said 21-year-old Ethan West of Norwich was driving north on Sundale in a Jeep Grand Cherokee and failed to yield at a stop sign and drove into the path of 44-year-old Thomas Smith of Zanesville.

A high speed pursuit through two counties ends with one person being transported to the hospital.

Muskingum County Sheriff's Deputies said it began around midnight Thursday when they were attempting to stop a 2002 Toyota on State Route 40 east of Zanesville for a traffic offense.

The driver of the vehicle, Ann Johnson of Zanesville, then lead deputies along US 40 and then onto I-70 eastbound, traveling into Guernsey County, where they State Highway Patrol and Guernsey County...

An accident involving a West Muskingum School bus delays the start of the school day for students on board.

The accident took place around 7:45a.m. at US 40 West and Dillon Falls Road. The State Highway Patrol's Trooper Mike Forshey said the West Muskingum Bus was stopped behind a green S10 Blazer at a stop light on Dillon Falls Road, when the light turned green the Blazer hesitated and the bus coasted into its back end.

The State Highway Patrol is stepping up enforcement on one of the busiest travel holidays of the year.

The texting ban for Ohio drivers goes into effect Friday, but it'll be six months before you can get a ticket for doing it.

State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Steven Rine said police will only issue warnings for the next half year.

"Texting is one piece of a large problem titled distracted driving," said Rine.  "A distracted driver is very dangerous.  A distracted driver is as dangerous as an OVI driver."

We're approaching one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, and the State Highway Patrol is asking drivers to stay safe.

Lieutenant Steven Rine said last year the patrol reported 15 fatalities during Labor Day weekend.  He said five of those deaths were related to alcohol.

Traffic fatalities are on the rise statewide, but that isn't the case here in southeast Ohio.

A new report shows that 2012 fatalities in the state are up 14% over the same period in 2011.  That's 654 fatalities compared with 574 last year.  State Highway Patrol Lieutenant Steven Rine said District 7 which includes Muskingum and Coshocton Counties, has reported 38 fatalities so far in 2012.
