The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office says a Meadowbrook Middle School student is facing charges after a bomb threat.  It happened Thursday afternoon while area schools were under a lock down due to a man threatening suicide.  It all started in a home near the middle school when deputies were dealing with a man threatening suicide with a shotgun.  Deputies surrounded the home and tried to make contact with the man, but were unable to do so.  When they finally entered...

The Associated Press is reporting a 38-year-old woman, who had recently moved from Crooksville. Ohio to Laredo, Texas killed herself, after turning the gun on her two children, following a seven-hour standoff at a government Social Services office.

Police identify the woman as Rachelle Grimmer.

The man found dead Tuesday afternoon hanging from a highway in Guernsey County has been identified. The Cambridge Post of the State Highway Patrol says the victim is 21-year-old Anthony Cole of Lynx in Adams County. Troopers received a call shortly after 1:30 pm that the body of a man was hanging from the overpass on I-77 in Guernsey County. The structure is over the Salt Fork Lake Spillway.

More than 100 hundred people attended a dinner Thursday night to bring awareness about suicides.

The 6th annual Regional Suicide Awareness Dinner was held at Coburn United Methodist Church in Zanesville.

Last year there were 13 suicides in Muskingum County, and officials say the deaths are preventable if people know of suicide risks and what to do.

The case of a man found dead on Interstate 70 is now closed.

Lt. Lawrence  Roseboro with the Granville Post of the State Highway Patrol says that the death of 62-year-old Laurence Shelly has been ruled suicide by the LIcking County Coroner.

Lt. Roseboro says the coroner's report indicates that Shelly was killed by a single gunshot wound to the head. The Patrol says Shelly was found beside the westbound lane of Interstate 70 between Ohio 158 and Ohio 37 with a gun nearby...

The Fairfield County Sheriff's Office says a jail inmate is dead after committing suicide.

Chester Henson was found in his cell Sunday afternoon.

Jail Supervisor, Phil Johnson, says Henson was recently taken off of suicide watch after being evaluated by a mental health professional.

Henson was arrested back in June on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, aggravated burglary, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The Athens County Sheriff's Office says it is still trying to figure out why an area fire chief allegedly committed suicide last Friday.

Lieutenant Aaron Maynard says one of the on-duty firefighters at the Nelsonville Fire Department found 53-year-old Timothy Carr with a gun shot wound to the head and notified authorities.

When officers arrived at the scene, Maynard says they found Carr was still breathing and also recovered a .380 caliber handgun.

The Athens County Sheriff's Office says it is investigating a suicide at a local agency.

Officers responded to the Nelsonville Fire Station on Friday afternoon, where they say they found the Fire Chief, Timothy Carr, had committed an act of suicide.

The incident is still under investigation.

The Granville Post of the Ohio State Higway Patrol says a Newark man was admitted to Licking Memorial Hospital for psychiatric evaluation after trying to commit suicide last night.

It happened around 9:15 p.m.

22-year-old Chad Gainer was on the State Route 79 overpass to Interstate 70.

The Granville Post says Buckeye Lake Police Department Officer Melillo grabbed Gainer's shoulder and hoisted him over the bridge railing.
