Seven area fire departments responded to a house fire early this morning in Perry County 

The family-built home located at 3147 Cooperriders Road, just North West of Somerset, belonged to Jim and Judy Vatter. Somerset, Thornville, Thirsten, Millersport, Licking, National Trails, and Hopewell Township fire departments as well as the State Fire Marshal and the Red Cross were on scene.

Folk music, craft sellers and homemade dishes were all available at a community festival in Thornville on Sunday.

This was the 18th year that the Backwoods festival took place in Perry County. The festival started after a craft maker and his wife got tired of going to shows to sell his work and decided to create their own. The festival continues to grow each year because more and more vendors want to participate.

Authorities in Perry County are investigating a meth lab discovered Monday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m. deputies arrived at 14975 Earl Place in Thornville to serve a warrant to a man living at the residence and discovered a meth lab inside of the residence.

Sergeant Keith Peck with the Perry County Sheriff's Office said the man was arrested for the warrant and two others in the house were detained for questioning and could face charges in connection to the bust.

Despite the heat, adults and children of all ages participated in the 14th Thorndunker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, which is held every year in downtown Thornville.  Just like many other 3-on-3 tournaments conducted in the summer, the ultimate goal is raising money, and in this instance, it is scholarship money for deserving seniors at Sheridan High School.  There were 62 teams in the event this year and considering the recent weather...

The July 4th parade marched on in the village of Thornville Wednesday.

Hundreds of people lined the parade route Wednesday morning.

The parade featured numerous floats from cheerleaders, area businesses and music from the Sheridan High School Marching Band.

Perry County Chamber of Commerce President John Ulmer served as the emcee for the parade and said it's been a long-time tradition in the community.

The annual Backwoods Fest in Thornville wrapped up Sunday.

The 3-day art, craft, food and music festival attracts nearly 30,000 people each year, making it all the more difficult to believe it all began as a simple business idea between husband and wife.

The man responsible for a home invasion in Thornville is found dead after a self-inflicted wound. Neighbors say the quiet street in Licking County where it happened, wasn't so peaceful following the invasion.

The Licking County Sheriff's Office says that around 7p.m. Wednesday, 21-year-old Jade Rosato-Garey entered the home of Karen Skeen at 11625 Mount Hope Road, and pointed a gun at her making demands. She then fled from the home, along with Garey who ran into the woods....

Perry County officials discover a large hydroponic marijuana growing operation in Thornville.

Perry County Sheriff's Sergeant Kevin Starrett said that a search at 75 Park Drive in Thornville, Sunday, led to the findings.

Deputies seized over fifty marijuana plants as well as a large quantity of items associated with the grow.

Suspects have been identified but names are not being released until formal charges are filed.

People lined up along Main Street in Thornville to get a good seat for the show today.

The village started its Fourth of July celebration with a parade Monday morning that traveled from the elementary school down Main Street. Everyone has their favorite parts.
