In this kind of weather, it's easy to succumb to heat exhaustion, and everyone's body reacts differently to the heat.
"Heat problems kind of sneak up on you. People don't realize they're getting in trouble because they aren't paying attention to their surroundings. It's the person who is hot to the touch and isn't sweating that's the one you really need to worry about," says Julie Davis of the Muskingum Valley Red Cross.
June is proving to be a hot month across the state, with most days recording a temperature of 80 degrees or higher, and that's been great news for local pools, including the Dresden Swim Center.
"We've been very busy. As far as for the month of June, for the first couple weeks we've had a record June. Pool memberships are up as well as punch card and daily admission, " says Swim Center Manager, Lindsay Conley.
People aren't just coming out to get in the water though....
Officials say the northwest Ohio tornado that killed five people over the weekend left behind an area that looks like a war zone. The damage is estimated to be a cost of at least $100,000,000.
The storms hit at a time when many people were unprotected, in their sleep.
"Unless you have those weather alert radios, those ones that come on automatically, no, there's not much you can do unless you're a light sleeper and here the noise. But from what I heard, they didn't even have...
Players may be going home a little soaked tonight.
Despite the weather, the Gus Macker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament continued in downtown Zanesville.
"This is the most sustained bad weather we've had. We've had lightning and had to clear the court, but to come in here and have rain for the opening ceremony, lightning, and then clearing...we survived it, and we're ready for another day, " says Downtown Association Manager, Dana Matz.
Plants across Southeastern Ohio are experiencing all kinds of weather this week.
Severe storms this weekend dropped pea size hail in Zanesville, which could potentially have minor damage on the hay crop or vegetable crops, such as rhubarb and asparagus.
"Probably the biggest damage potentially would be to fruit. We see the fruit crop just beginning at this point. So, if you get some nicks and cuts on the fruit at this stage, it can be very devastating to a fruit crop,...
The United States Department of Agriculture is projecting a near record corn harvest across the US as well as a large soybean harvest.
Muskingum County's OSU Extension Educator, Mark Mechling, says our local farmers typically reflect these national trends and farmers are expected to plant more acres of corn this year.
"The recent warm weather, dry weather has been conducive for farmers here locally, at least to plant more corn, " says Mechling.
Local fire departments are going on more runs, dealing with brush and grass fires.
Firefighters have not only been battling these blazes but the hot weather conditions too..
"We've just had this ongoing situation here where we really haven't had a lot of rain in the immediate past. We got some pretty good heat, a lot of wind, and low humidity, " says Fire Chief, Dave Lacy.
The wind seems to be the worst enemy of the three.
While many of you have been keeping up to date with the weather through WHIZ TV or radio, the Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is taking part in webinars with the National Weather Service.
Bo Keck of the EMA said they've had two webinars so far, one for last Friday's snow storm and one for today's weather.
"Thet wanted to give a forecast of exactly what's going on and what's coming, which helps us to plan," said Keck. "The one on thursday...
