While kids might not want to hear it, it's already time to think about going back to school.
Three local organizations in the Zanesville Community want to make sure kids have new shoes on their feet for the start of the school year. Wendy's, Eastside Community and WHIZ have teamed up once again for "Lace Up for Kids Campaign." This is the 25th year for the event which kicked off Monday.

This year's Lace Up for Kids will mark a major milestone.
They will surpass the 25,000 shoe mark for donations in the 24th year of the program.

Wendy's Restaurants, the WHIZ Media Group and Eastside Community Ministries are teaming up to collect new tennis shoes for needy children to go back to school. The program was founded by Wendy's restaurant nearly 23 years ago.

The doors to the Civic Community Center opened up at 9 a.m. to provide area children with a new pair of shoes as they head back to school. As families come in, volunteers will meet with them and find the shoe that perfectly fits their foot, and taste.

As hopes dim that anyone else will be found alive in the rubble of Haiti's Earthquake, Zanesville Wendy's Restaurants join with other regional Wendy's to help the quakes victims in Haiti.

The Bakery Workers Local Number 57 union from the New Bakery plant in Zanesville says it is boycotting Wendy's restaurants because Wendy's buys its buns from the New Bakery and New Bakery is owned by Wendy's International.
