The West Nile Virus has been confirmed in Licking County.
According to the Health Department, one pool of mosquitos collected from traps it monitors tested positive for the virus.
Health Commissioner Joe Ebel says there have been no West Nile cases discovered in animals or humans thus far.
The virus has also been found in mosquitos in Columbus this week.
Ohio has recorded human cases of the virus each year since 2002. There were five reported cases last year.
The Licking County Health Department says it has found West Nile virus in mosquitoes. Officials say the virus has been found in 55 pools of mosquitoes collected in the west end of Newark from traps set by the Health Department this year. It's the second highest number of West Nile virus positive results in the state. The Health Department is reminding residents to take precaution to protect themselves from mosquito borne illnesses like West Nile virus....
