With those cold temperatures and gusty winds, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department reminds you that it can be dangerous if you are going to be outside.

Medical Director Dr. Vicki Whitacre said the single digit wind-chills can cause respiratory problems for the elderly, those with chronic diseases and newborn babies younger than six months.

"They always need to have at least a t-shirt underneath their shirt, and wrapped in a blanket," said Whitacre....

Snow and icy roads aren't the only thing you have to worry about...The Zanesville Muskingum County Health Department explains the dangers of wind chill.

Director of Nursing Gloria Kieffer says when exposed to cold temperatures, your body begins to lose heat faster than it can be produced.  It's very important to stay dry because when your skin gets wet, you lose heat faster.  It's also important to keep wind chill in mind.
